Trust & moderation
Review policy
This policy explains how Canada Pharmacy Review collects, verifies, moderates, and displays consumer reviews. We designed it to comply with the FTC’s Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule (16 CFR Part 465, effective October 21, 2024) and related FTC guidance. This page is not legal advice.
Our commitments
- We do not write, buy, or seed fake reviews—including “starter” reviews from staff, friends, or family.
- We do not offer incentives that depend on whether a review is positive or negative.
- We apply the same moderation standards to positive and negative reviews.
- We do not hide negative reviews while implying that we show all or most reviews.
- If someone with a material connection to a pharmacy (owner, employee, marketer) submits a review, they must disclose that relationship; undisclosed insider reviews may be removed or relabeled.
Who can leave a review
- People who have used, or attempted to use, the online pharmacy they are reviewing.
- Reviewers must verify their email address (verification link) before a review can be approved.
- We limit review velocity (for example, one review per pharmacy per email/IP within a time window) to reduce spam and brigading.
- Medication or health-condition fields are optional. Please do not post personal medical details, prescription numbers, or photos of labels that identify you.
What we show
- Approved reviews with star ratings, the review text, the date, and an “email verified” label when applicable.
- The full star distribution and review count for a listing when we display ratings summaries.
- Pharmacy owners who successfully claim a listing may respond publicly to reviews. They cannot edit or delete consumer reviews.
Hosting consumer reviews is different from us republishing selected reviews as endorsements in ads. If we feature a review in marketing, we treat it as a testimonial and follow disclosure rules.
Equal treatment / what gets removed
We may refuse, remove, or decline to publish content—whether positive or negative—when it falls into one of these categories:
- Spam, advertising, or unrelated promotional content
- Wrong business (clearly about a different pharmacy or website)
- Off-topic content that is not about the pharmacy experience
- Abusive, harassing, or gratuitously profane content (critique of service is allowed)
- Doxxing or posting another person’s personal information
- Personal health information that creates privacy risk (we may redact or reject)
- Content that advertises or seeks controlled substances, or claims drugs are available without a prescription
- Clear conflicts of interest without disclosure (employees, affiliates, competitors posting in bad faith)
- Fraudulent or impersonated reviewers after investigation
We do not remove a review simply because it is negative, lowers a rating, or upsets a pharmacy owner—unless it violates the rules above.
Incentives
If we ever offer an incentive for submitting a review (we do not plan to at launch), the incentive will not depend on star rating or sentiment, and we will disclose the incentive in or next to the review.
Reporting a problem
Use the report control on a review (when enabled) or contact us to report spam, fake reviews, personal information that should be removed, or controlled-substance content. We investigate reports that include enough detail to locate the review.
Ranking
When we rank or sort pharmacies by rating, we aim to use methods (such as a Bayesian average) that reduce gaming by a small number of five-star reviews. Exact sorting may also consider recency and review count.
Relationship to affiliate commissions
Some US partners pay us commissions. That commercial relationship does not buy better ratings or preferential removal of negative reviews. See How we make money.
